Women’s Basketball
Courtney Lewis, Forward, Senior, 5-10,
Prairie du Chien, WI
Lewis continued her steady play versus 23rd-ranked
St. Mary’s (Minn.) and NCAA Division II Winona State
(Minn.). Against the 23-ranked Cardinals Lewis played 32
minutes scoring seven points connecting on three-of-nine field
goals, grabbing six rebounds and collecting a game-high six assists
in a 71-62 loss. Lewis had six of the Blugolds’ nine
assists for the game. Against the Division II Warriors Lewis
scored a game-best 15 points and team-high eight rebounds to go
along with three assists making six-of-10 field goal
attempts. Down 40-23 with 19:05 remaining in the second half,
Lewis and the Blugolds stormed back taking a 42-40 lead with 8:58
to play and came back to take the lead again at 52-49 with 4:34
left in the game. For the week Lewis averaged 11 points,
seven rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal per game playing 33
minutes per game. Lewis made nine-of-19 field goals (47.4%),
one-of-two three-point field goals (50%) and three-of-four free
throw attempts (75%) for the week.
Todd Koritzinsky, Forward, 5-8, 168 pounds, Freshman, Verona, WI/Middleton
Koritzinsky scored his first two goals as a Blugold in a week where Eau Claire played three ranked teams in a span of five days. Against fifth-ranked Adrian College (Mich.) down 3-1, Koritzinsky scored his first collegiate goal at 17:18 of the second period cutting the Bulldog lead to 3-2. The following night against Lake Forest College (Ill.), currently receiving votes in the lastest USCHO.com NCAA Division III National Poll, Koritzinsky scored the game-tying goal at 16:46 of the first period as the game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Women’s Hockey
Claudia Gagnon, Forward, 5-4, Sophomore, Duluth, MN/East
Gagnon scored a goal and an assist in two games against sixth-ranked UW-River Falls. At River Falls on Friday, November 21, Gagnon assisted on the Blugolds’ lone goal against the Falcons. The following night down 3-0, Gagnon sparked a Blugold rally when she scored an unassisted power play goal at 1:33 of the third period. The Blugolds added another goal before falling to the conference-leading Falcons 3-2 at Hobbs Ice Center.
Women’s Swimming and Diving
Diving: Sara Axness, Junior, Eau Claire WI/Memorial
Axness won both the one-meter and three-meter diving events in a dual meet at NCAA Division II Minnesota State-Moorhead. Axness won the one-meter dive with a score of 455.55 points and the three-meter dive scoring 475.15 points.
Swimming: Elissa Hermsen, Sophomore, Waunakee, WI
Hermsen won two individual events in a dual meet at NCAA
Division II Minnesota State-Moorhead. Hermsen won the 100
Butterfly with a time of 1:01.12 and the 200 Butterfly in 2:15.8.
