EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Four UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, three at home and one on the road competing at a WIAC Championship.

Women's Golf

WIAC Championship - 2nd of 7

After the first round of the 2014 WIAC Women's Golf Championship at Lake Arrowhead Golf Course, the Blugold women's golf team is in second place out of seven teams while two Blugolds lead the field of 52 golfers. The Blugolds finished the first round with 339 strokes while UW-Stout leads with 334. UW-Whitewater is in third with 345 strokes. Kate Engler, who claimed medalist honors at last year's conference championship, currently leads the field with 78 strokes

Men's Cross Country

Blugold Invitational - 2nd of 25

The men's cross country team formed a perfect pack that finished near the top of Friday's Blugold Invitational at Whitetail Golf Course. But it wasn't quite up high enough as St. Olaf just edged out the Blugolds, 48 to 52, for the meet championship. Josh Thorson was the top finisher on the team as he took fifth overall in a time of 24:45.6 over 8,000 meters.

Women's Cross Country

Blugold Invitational - 5th of 24

The women's cross country team took fifth place at its home meet, the Blugold Invitational, Friday at the Whitetail Golf Course. The Blugolds finished with 134 points. Carelton won the meet with 49. Lucy Ramquist had a sensational race for Eau Claire, finishing eighth in a time of 22:44.2 over the course of 6,000 meters.

Women's Tennis

UW-Eau Claire 9, UW-Stevens Point 0

Forced to play indoors due to inclement weather, the women's tennis team hosted their first home event of the season sweeping UW-Stevens Point 9-0 in the Olson Addition of the McPhee Physical Education Center. With the win Eau Claire improves to 5-1 in dual matches and 3-1 in WIAC action. The Blugolds won all six singles matches in straight sets.
