EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Four UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, women's volleyball at home and the rest on the road.
Women's Volleyball
UW-La Crosse 3, UW-Eau Claire 2 (20-25, 11-25, 25-22, 25-19, 15-13)
The women's volleyball team came out strong, winning the first two sets, but UW-La Crosse came from behind to defeat the Blugolds 3-2 in the McPhee Physical Education Center today. The Blugolds won the first two sets 25-20 and 25-11 while La Crosse won the final three 25-22, 25-19 and 15-13. As a team, Eau Claire hit .251 with 60 kills and 18 errors while La Crosse hit .170 with 56 kills and 28 errors.
Women's Soccer
UW-La Crosse 2, UW-Eau Claire 1
Holding a 1-0 lead at half time, the women's soccer team allowed two second half goals as the Blugolds fell to UW-La Crosse 2-1 here today at Veterans Field. Forward Hannah Schweitzer scored her first career goal at 40:36 assisted by midfielder Carolyn Payne giving Eau Claire a 1-0 halftime lead. Eau Claire outshot La Crosse 19-12.
Men's Golf
Gustavus Adolphus Twin Cities Classic - 11th of 19
After round one of the Twin Cities Classic at Elk River Country Club in Elk River, Minn., the men's golf team is in 11th place out of 19 teams with 308 strokes. Brady Hanson currently leads the Blugolds, tied for 15th place out of 107 golfers with 74 strokes (+2). Round two will be contested Sunday the Links at Northfork in Ramsey, Minn. while Monday's final round will be played at Dellwood Country Club in Dellwood, Minn.
