Game Day Review - Saturday, August 30, 2014

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Three UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, volleyball and women's tennis on the road, while women's golf hosted an invite at Wild Ridge Golf Course.

Women's Volleyball
Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) 3, UW-Eau Claire 1
UW-Eau Claire 3, Augsburg College (Minn.) 0

Competing on the final day of the Saint Benedict Labor Day Tournament, the volleyball team dropped its first match 3-1 against Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) but rebounded with a 3-0 victory over 16th-ranked Augsburg College (Minn.). Facing Concordia, the Cobbers won the opening set 25-19 and the Blugolds won the next one 25-19. Concordia won the third set 25-19 and narrowly won the fourth set 26-24. Against Augsburg, which came into the match with the Blugolds with a 2-1 record, the teams played close but Eau Claire won all three. The Blugolds opened with a 25-23 win and followed with two 25-21 set victories to secure their first win of the year.

Women's Tennis

UW-Whitewater Warhawk Invitational - 4th of 8

The women's tennis team earned three top-three finishes today at the UW-Whitewater Tournament hosted on the UW-Whitewater campus. Two third-place finishes came in singles play while a second-place finish was on the doubles side.

Women's Golf

Doug Georgianni Memorial Invitational - 5th of 14

After round one of UW-Eau Claire's Doug Georgianni Memorial Invitational at Wild Ridge Golf Course, the women's golf team is in fifth place out of 14 teams with 326 strokes. Kate Engler led the Blugolds with 78 strokes, tied for fifth place.
