EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Three UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, all on the road, to open the 2014-15 season for the Blugolds.

Women's Volleyball
Northwestern (Minn.) 3, UW-Eau Claire 0
Saint Benedict (Minn.) 3, UW-Eau Claire 0

The volleyball team opened the season at the College of Saint Benedict Labor Day Tournament today, dropping two matches 3-0. Facing the University of Northwestern-St. Paul (Minn.) to start the season, the Blugolds fell 3-0, and against ninth-ranked Saint Benedict, also came up short 3-0. Katrina Raskie led the Blugolds in kills in both matches, 12 against Northwestern and seven against Saint Benedict.

Women's Soccer
Hamline (Minn.) 1, UW-Eau Claire 0

Battling through a 44-minute lightning delay, the women's soccer team was unable to score in its season opener as the Blugolds fell at Hamline University 1-0 at the Pat Paterson Fields. The lone goal of the came at the 21:21 mark when Hamline's Grace Nichols reached the back of the net giving the Pipers a 1-0 lead.

Women's Tennis
UW-Whitewater 7, UW-Eau Claire 2

The women's tennis team opened the 2014-15 season with a 7-2 defeat today at defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater. The Blugolds came away with two singles victories.
