EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Four UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, three on the road at WIAC Championships and one at home.
Softball
WIAC Championship
UW-Whitewater 9, UW-Eau Claire 1
UW-La Crosse 3, UW-Eau Claire 2
The softball team dropped two games on day two of the 2014 WIAC Championship to end its tournament run. The Blugolds fell 9-1 to UW-Whitewater in game one and then lost to UW-La Crosse 3-2. The Blugolds end the season with a 25-16 record.
Women's Golf
Blugold Spring Invitational - 4th of 11
After round one of the Blugold Spring Invitational, hosted by UW-Eau Claire, the women's golf team is in fourth place out of 11 teams. Carleton College (Minn.) leads the field with 329 while Eau Claire shot 340. Kate Engler led the Blugolds and is currently tied for eighth place with 82 strokes. Rochelle Beardsley from Wartburg College (Iowa) leads the field of 70 golfers with 80 strokes. The final round at Wild Ridge Golf Course in Eau Claire will get underway at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
Men's Outdoor Track & Field
WIAC Championship - 4th of 9
After two days of competition at the 2014 WIAC Championship, the men's outdoor track & field team won three titles and finished in fourth place as a team.
