EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Two UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, softball and men's tennis, both competing on the road.
Softball
Simpson College (Iowa) 5, UW-Eau Claire 1
UW-Eau Claire 6, Simpson College (Iowa) 3
The softball team returned to action for the first time Saturday since their spring break trip in Tucson, Ariz. With snow still on the ground in Wisconsin, the Blugolds traveled to Iowa to take on Simpson College for a doubleheader. Simpson won the first game of the day 5-1, but the Blugolds earned the split with a 6-3 win in the second game.
Men's Tennis
UW-Eau Claire 5, Augustana (Ill.) 4
In a close match against Augustana College (Ill.) at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium at UW-Madison, the men's tennis team came out on top 5-4 on Saturday. With the Blugolds and Augustana tied 4-4, Ryan Vande Linde was able to secure the final victory to give the Blugolds the team win as he took No. 1 singles 6-2, 2-6, 6-3.
