EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Nine UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, three at home and six on the road.

Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving

WIAC Championship - Women 2nd, Men 4th

The men's and women's swimming & diving teams claimed three more titles on the final day of the 2014 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. Alex Card was named the men's Swimmer of the Meet for the second year in a row after winning three titles while Sara Axness was named the women's Diver of the Meet, the first Blugold in history to win the honor.

Women's Indoor Track & Field

Pointer Eastbay Invite - 1st of 13

Six different events had UW-Eau Claire athletes on top of the results as the Blugold women's indoor track & field team captured the Eastbay Pointer Invitational championship on the campus of UW-Stevens Point. Eau Claire just outdistanced itself from second-place UW-Oshkosh by a score of 147.33 to 146.

Men's Indoor Track & Field

Pointer Eastbay Invite - 3rd of 20

The men's track and field team got two first-place performances en route to a third-place team finish Saturday at the Eastbay Pointer Invitational, hosted by UW-Stevens Point. The Blugold men finished with 94 points. UW-Oshkosh won the meet with 115.33 points while UW-La Crosse came in second with 108 points.

Men's Tennis

UW-Eau Claire 9, St. Norbert College 0
UW-Eau Claire 9, Loras College (Iowa) 0

UW-Eau Claire 8, MSOE 1

Competing at home three times this weekend, the men's tennis team defeated three opponents, dropping just one match, on the Olson Indoor Courts at UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds opened the weekend with a 9-0 win Friday night over St. Norbert College. They followed with a 9-0 victory over Loras College (Iowa) Saturday morning and closed the weekend with an 8-1 win over MSOE Saturday afternoon.

Women's Hockey

UW-River Falls 4, UW-Eau Claire 1

Despite scoring the first goal, the women's hockey team was unable to keep up with fifth-ranked UW-River Falls and fell 4-1 to the Falcons in the regular season finale at Hobbs Ice Center this afternoon. The Blugolds struck first, less than six minutes into the game as Paige Dale scored an even-strength goal. But River Falls scored four unanswered for the win as they outshot the Blugolds 42-23.

Women's Basketball

UW-Whitewater 73, UW-Eau Claire 53

The women's basketball team was unable to get a win over 11th-ranked UW-Whitewater, falling to the Warhawks 73-53 at Kachel Gymnasium Saturday evening. The Blugolds started the game strong, outscoring the Warhawks 13-7 over the first seven minutes. Eau Claire still led with five minutes remaining in the opening half, 19-17, but Whitewater then used a 13-0 run to take an 11-point lead. Whitewater led by as many as 22 points in the second half. Courtney Lewis recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Men's Basketball

UW-Whitewater 82, UW-Eau Claire 57

Facing second-ranked UW-Whitewater in the season finale, the men's basketball never led as the Blugolds fell 82-57 on Ken Anderson Court in Zorn Arena tonight. The Warhawks had little trouble  against the Blugolds and reached their largest lead of the night of 31 points (82-51) with less than three minutes to play. Adam Hjelter led the Blugolds in scoring with 13 points.

Men's Hockey

UW-Eau Claire 2, UW-River Falls 1

While the men's hockey team got down early and trailed for more than 37 minutes, a goal in the closing minutes gave the sixth-ranked Blugolds a 2-1 win over 10th-ranked UW-River Falls tonight. Despite being down by one for most of the game, in the third period, Patrick Moore got the Blugolds on the board with a goal at 2:03. Then with just 1:15 left in regulation, David Henry scored his first collegiate goal to give the Blugolds a one-goal lead and they hung on for the win. Eau Claire outshot River Falls 32-26.
