EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Three UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, the swimming & diving teams at the WIAC Championships and the men's hockey team at home.

WIAC Championship

After day one of the 2014 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, the men's and women's swimming & diving teams are in third place out of six teams. Two conference titles highlighted the Blugolds' first day at the championship. Additionally, the men's 400-yard medley relay team broke a school record.

Men's Hockey

UW-Stout 3, UW-Eau Claire 2

The Blugold men's hockey team never led as the Blue Devils beat the Blugolds 3-2 at Hobbs Ice Center tonight. After a scoreless opening period, Stout struck first in the second period but the Blugolds answered within two minutes. The Blue Devils scored two straight less than six minutes into the third period and the Blugolds were only able to score one more time with less than two minutes to play. Eau Claire led in shots, 53-28. The Blugolds will now be the No. 3 seed in the WIAC Championship, which will get underway next week. They will play at UW-Stevens Point Feb. 28 and March 1 in the semifinals.
