EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Three UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, women's basketball at home while women's hockey and men's basketball were on the road.

Women's Basketball

UW-Eau Claire 73, UW-Superior 56

Coming off a 57-47 win over UW-La Crosse on Saturday, the women's basketball team recorded a victory again tonight, defeating UW-Superior 73-56 on Ken Anderson Court in Zorn Arena. After a 24-24 tie at halftime, Eau Claire came out strong in the second half and outscored the Yellowjackets 14-4 over the first five minutes to build a 10-point lead (38-28). The closest Superior got after that was five points, but the Blugolds then began to pull away, outscoring the Yellowjackets 25-15 over the final nine minutes to win by 17. Teenie Lichtfuss led the Blugolds in scoring with 21 points.

Men's Basketball

UW-Superior 70, UW-Eau Claire 62

After leading 44-35 at halftime, the men's basketball team managed to score just 18 points in the second half, falling to UW-Superior 70-62 at Mertz Mortorelli Gymnasium tonight. The Blugolds trailed just twice during the first 37 minutes of the game. After the score was tied for the seventh time at 59 with four minutes left, the Blugolds were able to get a lead one more time, 62-61, with just over time minutes to play. But over the final two minutes, the Blugolds were unable to score any points as the Yellowjackets used a 9-0 run to win by eight. Adam Hjelter led the Blugolds in scoring with 19 points while Kurtis Moody recorded a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down a game-high 14 rebounds.

Women's Hockey

Hamline University (Minn.) 3, UW-Eau Claire 1

The women's hockey team got behind 2-0, allowing a goal in both the first and second periods, but got back to within one goal as Sam Knutson scored midway through the second period. But just a few minutes later, Hamline found the back of the net again and hung on for the win. The Pipers outshot the Blugolds 27-16 and Kim Van Brunt played the entire game at goalie for Eau claire, stopping 24 shots.
