EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Six UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action Saturday, all on the road.
Wrestling
Lakeland College 28, UW-Eau Claire 15
UW-Eau Claire 25, MSOE 18
Wheaton College (Ill.) 34, UW-Eau Claire 13
Competing three times at the Lakeland College Duals today, the wrestling team went 1-2 to record its first team victory of the season. Nathaniel Behnke (141 pounds) and Ryan Seidler (149 pounds) both picked up three wins today. Three others won twice.
Women's Hockey
UW-Eau Claire 5, St. Olaf College (Minn.) 1
One day after defeating St. Olaf College (Minn.) 5-2, the women's hockey team recorded a 5-1 victory over the Oles at Northfield Arena today. Five different Blugolds scored goals, one of which was on a power-play and another which was on an empty net.
Women's Basketball
UW-Eau Claire 73, UW-Stout 57
While UW-Stout jumped out to the initial lead, the Blugold women's basketball team came back to defeat the Blue Devils 73-57 at Johnson Fieldhouse today for the Blugolds' first conference win of the season. Eau Claire led 35-34 at halftime and never gave up the lead the rest of the way. The Blugolds outscored the Blue Devils 12-3 over the final five minutes to win by 16. Courtney Lewis led the game in scoring with 19 points, 13 coming in the second half.
Men's Basketball
UW-Stout 56, UW-Eau Claire 45
Playing in its first conference game since Dec. 11, the men's basketball team struggled in the first half and couldn't recover as the Blugolds fell 56-45 to UW-Stout at Johnson Fieldhouse today. Lewis Mau and Adam Hjelter tied for a game-high with 12 points. Eau Claire had a season low shooting percentage from the field, 30.9 percent, going 17-for-55. The Blugolds attempted just five free throws, making three, while the Blue Devils scored 17 points at the free throw line.
Swimming & Diving
The men's and women's swimming & diving teams were in Coronado Island, Calif. to compete against four teams in a relay.
