EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Seven UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, two at home while five were on the road.

Wrestling

Cornell College 31, UW-Eau Claire 13

Southwest MN State 33, UW-Eau Claire 10

Competing at UW-La Crosse's Candlewood Suite Duals, Nathaniel Behnke went undefeated at 141 pounds to lead the Blugold wrestling team. He won two matches by major decision while winning another by forfeit. Ryan Seidler picked up two wins on the day competing at 149 pounds. Cornell and Loras are both nationally-ranked teams.

Men's Basketball

UW-La Crosse 75, UW-Eau Claire 59

The men's basketball team dropped its second straight conference game, falling 75-59 to UW-La Crosse at Mitchell Hall tonight. The Blugolds trailed by three at halftime, but came out in the second half and tied the game up at 37, three minutes into the half. But La Crosse steadily pulled away from Eau Claire, outscoring the Blugolds 38-22 over the final 17 minutes to win by 16. Two Blugolds reached double digits in scoring with Jacob Kohner leading the way with 12 points.

Women's Basketball

UW-La Crosse 63, UW-Eau Claire 54

Despite leading by as many as 10 points, a scoring drought that lasted more than 11 minutes in the second half sealed the women's basketball team's fate as the Blugolds fell to UW-La Crosse 63-54 on Ken Anderson Court in Zorn Arena tonight. Two Blugolds reached double figures with Courtney Lewis leading the way with 19 points

Men's Hockey

UW-Eau Claire 2, UW-Superior 2 (OT)

Coming off a loss in the WIAC opener at home on Friday night, the men's hockey team looked to rebound Saturday night when they traveled to Superior for another conference matchup. Both teams scored twice in the first period, and that was all the scoring the rest of the way as they battled to a 2-2 tie. Ethan Nauman and Chris Fischer each scored a goal for the Blugolds as they jumped out to a 2-0 lead less than seven minutes into the game.

Women's Hockey

UW-Stevens Point 4, UW-Eau Claire 3

For the second time in as many nights, the women's hockey team fell 4-3 to seventh-ranked UW-Stevens Point as the teams played at Hobbs Ice Center tonight. Down 4-1 with less than two minutes to play, Sam Knutson scored on a power-play at 18:32 in the third to make the score 4-2. Then with just nine seconds remaining, Katie Burkey got the Blugolds within one was she scored an even-strength goal. While the Blugolds had the momentum at the end, they couldn't overcome the deficit before the final buzzer. Paige Turner made 49 saves for the Blugolds, fourth most in school history.
