EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Two UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today, men's basketball at home while women's basketball was on the road.
Women's Basketball
Wartburg (Iowa) 60, UW-Eau Claire 58
For the second time in as many Saturdays, the women's basketball team fell victim to a late opposing comeback on the road, this time at the hands of Wartburg College. The Knights erased an eight-point second half deficit and knocked three free throws in the final minute to edge the Blugolds 60-58.
Men's Basketball
UW-Eau Claire 87, Crown (Minn.) 73
While the game went back and forth in the opening half, the men's basketball team took control in the second half to defeat Crown College (Minn.) 87-73 on Ken Anderson Court in Zorn Arena tonight. Adam Hjelter led the game with a career-high 34 points, 15 of them coming in the first half. He finished the game going 8-for-11 from beyond the arc, just one basket away from the school record for most three-pointers made in a game.
