EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Two teams were in action today as women's hockey opened the season at home while volleyball was at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament.
Volleyball
UW-Eau Claire 3, Illinois Wesleyan 0 (25-14, 25-15,

UW-Eau Claire 3, Monmouth 0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-17)
The women's volleyball team picked up two victories on the first day of the Illinois Wesleyan University Tournament at the Shirk Center today. The Blugolds swept both teams they faced today, defeating Illinois Wesleyan University 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-19) and Monmouth College 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-17). Kelly Schuh led the first match with 12 kills while Keagan Kinsella led the Blugolds in the second match with 10.
Women's Hockey
UW-Eau Claire 2, St. Scholastica 2 (OT)
The women's hockey team opened the 2013-2014 season Friday night against St. Scholastica (Minn.) at Hobbs Ice Center in a nonconference matchup. The two teams needed overtime, but even that was not enough, as they battled to a 2-2 tie. Blugold goalie Paige Turner finished the game with 43 saves, the ninth most in a single game in school history, as the Saints outshot the Blugolds 45-24.
