Game Day Review - Sunday, September 22, 2013

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - Three UW-Eau Claire Athletics teams were in action today with men's golf competing at home while women's tennis and women's golf were on the road.

Men's Golf

The men's golf team is hosting its annual Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational at Eau Claire Golf and Country Club today and tomorrow. After round one, the Blugolds are in first place out of 14 teams. A second team for Eau Claire is tied for 8th. David Walter leads the Blugolds, tied for third out of 83 golfers with 73 strokes.

Women's Golf

Led by two Blugolds in the top three, the women's golf team finished in third place out of six teams at the two-day Blazer Invitational, hosted by the College Saint Benedict (Minn.) at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course. Kate Engler led the field of 49 golfers with 150 strokes, six better than the second place finisher, while Emily Stone took third.

Women's Tennis

The women's tennis team competed at the ITA Tournament in St. Peter, Minn. this weekend. Katie Gillman and Maddie Johnson led the Blugolds by claiming the consolation doubles title at the Midwest Regional Championships. At the Gustavus Fall Invite, Paige McCullough and Amy Orthaus were runners-up in their respective singles events.
