
CLEVELAND, Ohio (Blugolds.com) - The UW-Eau Claire athletics program took 14th place overall out of more than 430 institutions in NCAA Division III this season in the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) recently announced.

The Blugolds scored a total of 672 points this year in 11 different sports. Last season the Blugolds' finished in 15th place after scoring 605.75 points. They have finished 18th or better for the past seven straight years. A complete point and finish history can be found below.
The men’s hockey team gained the most points for the Blugolds with 100 after winning the national title in March. Men’s Outdoor Track & Field scored 90 points for taking second at nationals in May while Men’s Indoor Track & Field accumulated 85 for taking third in March. Williams College (Mass.) won the competition this season with 1,273.75 points, its 16th title in the past 18 years. Around the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC), UW-Whitewater led the nine schools with a fourth-place finish while a total of five institutions finished 30th or better.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
