EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football's Sam Romanski (Jr. – Wausau, WI/East) has been named to the D3football.com's First Team All-West Region team.
The junior linebacker also earned First Team All-WIAC honors after leading the Blugolds with 59 tackles and led the WIAC in sacks with 14.5 and tackles for loss with 17.5. In addition, Romanski ranked third in the country in total sacks and 15th in tackles for a loss.
The teams, selected in balloting by West Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 255 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 78 players were chosen. Players nominated for All-Region are eligible to be considered for D3football.com All-America honors, which will be announced the evening of Dec. 14, in D3football.com's pregame coverage for Stagg Bowl XLVI.
Romanski is the first Blugold to earn All-Region honors since Paul Santi (First Team) and Joel Sweeney (Second Team) were named All-Region in 2013.
