Brookshaw, Romanski lead Blugolds in All-WIAC selections

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) – Led by two First Team selections, six Blugolds in total earned All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) recognition for the 2018 football season.

Defensive end Charlie Brookshaw (Sr. – Prescott, WI/Prescott) and linebacker Sam Romanski (Jr. – Wausau, WI/East) led a strong Blugold pass rush all season long, earning First Team All-Conference honors. Brookshaw ended the season with career highs in tackles, sacks, and tackles for loss with 37, 6.5, and 10, respectively. The senior finished in the top 10 in the WIAC in both sacks and tackles for loss. Romanski led the Blugolds with 59 tackles and led the WIAC in sacks with 14.5 and tackles for loss with 17.5. In addition, the junior ranked third in the country in total sacks and 15th in tackles for a loss. 

Running back Brian Kulaga (Sr. – Riverside, IL/Riverside-Brookfield) picked up Second Team honors. Kulaga rushed for 819 yards, good for second in the WIAC and added five touchdowns on the ground.

Offensive lineman Ben Wolff (Sr. – Fond du Lac, WI/Winnebago Lutheran Academy) and linebacker Victor Martinelli (So. – Milton, Wi/Milton) were named All-Conference honorable mention while Kicker/Punter Brad Goetsch (So. – Schofield, WI/DC Everest) was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.

All Blugolds were first-time selections, with the exception of Martinelli, who was an honorable mention selection last season as well.

The Blugolds finished the season 4-6 overall, the most wins since the 2012 season.
