It was a tough start for the Blugolds, with a blocked punt resulting in the Eagles' first score of the day. Two more turnovers would follow as La Crosse would have an early 21-0 lead. However, the Blugold defense would stop the Eagles on their last drive of the first quarter with a blocked field goal attempt thanks to Jordan Wollin (Jr. – Eagan, MN).

The Eagles tacked on a field goal and touchdown in the second quarter, but the Blugold offense came alive just before the half. A Scott Procter (Jr. – Chicago, IL/St. Rita of Cascia) pass to Darius Jones (Fr. – Ramsey, MN/Anoka) resulted in a 38-yard gain and a 17-yard run by Brian Kulaga (Jr. – Riverside, IL/Riverside-Brookfield) put Eau Claire in the red zone. Procter would put the Blugolds on the board with one-yard run with just over a minute left in the first half. The Eau Claire defense would force a punt on the next possession and the Eagles took a 31-7 lead into the locker room.

The third quarter saw no scoring but La Crosse would score again a minute into the fourth quarter.

Procter would have an answer on the following possession, breaking away for a 30-yard touchdown run, his second rushing touchdown of the game. However, the Eagles would find the end zone once again, sealing the win.

Procter finished the day with nine completions in 17 attempts for 142 yards and one interception. The junior also led the team in rushing, recording 58 yards on 21 attempts.

Jones snagged three receptions for 86 yards while Drew Hurley (Jr. – Chatfield, MN/Chosen Valley), Dillon Kempen (Sr. – Suring, WI), Sam Romanski (Jr. – Wausau, WI/East) and Victor Martinelli (Fr. – Milton, WI) all tallied six tackles to lead the defense.

The Blugolds will be on the road again next Saturday as they travel to Stevens Point to take on the Pointers at 1:10 p.m. Follow the action on Blugold Game Day.
