EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (blugolds.com) - Over the weekend, members of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire football team volunteered to take part in Joshua Camp's 2017 Spring Program at Action City Family Fun Center. The event came on the heels of the partnership's successful Fall Program Event back in October.

"Joshua's Camp is the culmination of many community members giving of their time and services to help provide a once-in-a-lifetime experience for families who have a child on a cancer journey," said the organization's Assistant Camp Director, Wendy Carey.

For this particular event, the Blugold football players assisted in serving ten families, including 37 children.

"Joshua's Camp fills a need for these families to bond with other children and parents going through the same thing," added Carey.

As was the case back in the fall, the players assisted the camp's clown "Pickles" with her magic show, who was thrilled to have their help once again. They also played games with the kids and partook in a musical parade.

The children were excited to see all of the football players, and they ran up to them, asking many questions such as what positions they each played.

"It was such a fun time to interact with the courageous children and their great families," said offensive lineman Brandon Carl (So.-Eagan, MN). "As I was a child of cancer, these types of events are fantastic and are uplifting to the children."

Carey concluded by saying, "The UWEC football team are young adults that these children look up to. They are a great group of guys who are willing to do anything for these kids, and the kids love it! It was an unforgettable evening."
