LAST MEETING BETWEEN THE TEAMS
Platteville recorded a 35-14 win to end the Blugolds' five-game win streak over the Pioneers. Both teams found the end zone late in the first quarter, but Platteville controlled the game with three touchdowns in the second. Eau Claire halted the Pioneers' 28-point scoring streak with a Joel Sweeney touchdown in the third quarter, but couldn't make a comeback. • Blugolds opened the game with a 14-0 lead and led 14-7 at halftime
• Pointers came out strong in second half, scoring a TD after just three plays
• The Blugolds' Clint Larsen returned a punt for 83 yards for a TD later in the third. It was the second longest punt return in school history and was a finalist for the Week 8 D3football.com Play of the Week
• Eau Claire recovered a fumble on the following kickoff, but had to settle for a 32-yard field goal to take a 24-14 lead
• Stevens Point scored with 1:40 left in the third and with 15 seconds left in the fourth to take their first lead of the game
