SportScene 13 for Monday, August 22nd, 2016 includes a look into UW-Eau Claire football media day as the team talked about their excitement for the upcoming season and unveiled their new uniforms.

A new era has begun for the UW-Eau Claire football team.

It all started with the hiring of new head coach Dan Larson last January, and it's continued to gain excitement as the regular season gets under way in about two weeks.

Media Day was hosted Monday afternoon at the Davies Center on the campus of UW-Eau Claire.

Alongside athletic director Dan Schumacher sat Coach Larson, his new staff, and four leaders of the football team.

After a winless campaign in 2015, Larson is hoping to turn a new leaf with this year's Blugolds.

The guys say there's a whole new feel going into practice and preparation for the upcoming season.

Coach Larson said, "I told those guys the other day from a coaching staff stand-point and a personal stand point, I only know one way to coach and our staff only knows one way to coach. We are very demanding. We push our guys very hard. We can be hard on them one minute, and the next minute, crack a joke with them and smile and laugh too."

"The effort levels are through the roof compared to last year," sophomore quarterback J.T. Denhartog said. "The intensity of practice and the attention to detail, it's just a complete 180. It just makes things exciting for these upcoming games.

Senior wide receiver Matt Knapp added, "Expectations for us, once they raise the expectations high and once we reach them, they raise them even higher. That has been helpful for us to find our true potential."
