Blugolds Third in Division III in Directors' Cup Standings

CLEVELAND (blugolds.com) – In the first set of fall Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire ranks third with 208.5 points.

The Blugolds were led by the men’s cross country team’s national championship. The women’s cross country squad was finished 16th while volleyball was 17th.

Middlebury currently leads Division III with 220.5 points while Williams is second with 215.

Also representing the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, theUniversity of Wisconsin-La Crosse is currently 11th while University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is 18th.

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today.  Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports in Division II – seven men’s and seven women’s; and 18 sports in Division III-- nine women’s and nine men’s.

The next Division II & III fall standings will be released Wednesday, December 10.
