Barrett, Dettmann, and Shult Earn WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Arianna Barrett , Sheridan Dettmann, and Carolyn Shult have been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 26 - Oct. 2.

Arianna Barrett (Sr., RSH, Lakeville, Minn./North) paced the Blugold offense during the week, averaging 3.56 kills/set with a .271 attack percentage. Her contributions from the service line and blocking upped her scoring to 4.03 points/set. Barrett tallied 14 kills in each of the victories against No. 3-ranked University of Northwestern-St. Paul (Minn.) and conference foe UW-La Crosse. Her 22 kills in the four-set win over Cornell College (Iowa) on Oct. 1 tied her career-high – her last 22-kill effort was October 24, 2018 against UW-Stout.

Sheridan Dettmann (Sr., L, Watertown, Wis./Watertown) anchored the Blugold defense during the week with 5.00 digs/set, including a career-high 31 digs against Cornell College (Iowa) on Oct. 1. With that performance, Dettmann recorded her 17th straight match with double-digit digs. She also chipped in offensively with 19 assists (1.19 per set) and 5 service aces on the week, including 3 key aces in a 3-2 victory against No. 3-ranked University of Northwestern-St. Paul (Minn.) on Sept. 28.

Carolyn Shult (Sr., Augusta, Wis./Augusta) placed second out of 356 competitors at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational on Sept. 30, leading UW-Eau Claire to a third-place finish out of 25 teams. She was the top conference finisher, covering the 6,000-meter course in 22:24, which is within 2 seconds of her lifetime best and 1 minute faster than she ran last year at the event.
