Essen, Weaver, Wallace, and Kocher All Named WIAC Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Katie Essen (Sr. - Farmington, MN/Rosemount), Marcus Weaver (So. - Lewiston, MN/Lewiston-Altura), Megan Wallace (Sr. - Burlington, WI), and Martin Kocher (St. Paul, MN/Johnson) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Kwik Trip Athletes of the Week, as was announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Women's Basketball

Essen had a game-high 22 pts in a 64-62 win against UW-Oshkosh on Feb. 26. She hit the game-winning buzzer beater to secure the overall No. 1 seed for the WIAC Championship. Essen was 12-for-13 from the free-throw line in the contest and grabbed 10 rebounds with four assists and one blocked shot. On Feb. 24, in a 63-56 loss to the Titans, she had 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and grabbed four rebounds. 

Men's Field Athlete

Weaver won the heptathlon with a NCAA Division III and conference-leading score of 5,117 points. This is 156 points better than any other performance in the nation. 

Women's Field Athlete

Wallace won the pentathlon with a nation and conference leading score of 3,775 points. This is 160 points better than anyone in the nation. Her long jump of 18-4 1/4 (5.59m) in the pentathlon is tied for second in the nation and conference. 

Men's Diving

Kocher won the three-meter diving competition with a score of 303.43 and was second on one-meter board with a score of 258.30.
