Wallace Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON,WIS.(Blugolds.com)- UW-Eau Claire women's track athlete Megan Wallace (Burlington,Wis.) has been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, as announced by WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek earlier today.

Wallace won the heptathlon at the UW-La Crosse Phil Esten Challenge with a score of 4,745 points. She won the 200-meter dash (26.55 seconds), long jump (17-10 3/4, 5.45m), shot put (36-1 1/2, 11.01m), javelin (114-10, 35.01m) and 800-meter run (2:29.74) and was third in the 100-meter dash (15.66 seconds) and high jump (5-1 1/4, 1.56m). Her score of 4, 745 points ranks first in the WIAC and fourth in NCAA Division III.

The women's track team finished 3rd as a team at the Phil Esten Challenge, and is currently ranked No. 12 in the country. Next up for the Blugolds is the Drake Relays and Saint Mary's Invitational April 26-27.
