Four Blugolds Named WIAC Athlete of the Week

Madison, Wis. (Blugolds.com) -Four Blugolds were awarded with Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week honors this week as announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations, Matt Stanek. These athletes include women's basketball player Anna Graaskamp (Eau Claire, Wis. /Memorial), diver Dylan Glumac-Berberich (Fridley, Min.), Darin Lau (Eau Claire, Wis. /Immanuel) of the men’s track and field team, and from the women’s track and field team, Sarah Glidden ( Greenville, Wis.)

Graaskamp averaged 21 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games during the week. She scored 18 points with seven rebounds in UW-Eau Claire's 86-52 win at UW-River Falls on Jan 24. Graaskamp then had a game-high 24 points, on 11-of-15 (73.3 percent) shooting, and chipped in with 6 rebounds in the Blugolds’ 61-58 loss to No. 18-ranked UW-Whitewater on Jan. 27. In the two games, she recorded 42 points on 19-30 shooting from the field (68.3 percent) and grabbed 13 rebounds.

Glumac-Berberich won the one-meter diving event (310.87), earning another NCAA zone cut and helped the Blugolds to a 184-107 win over UW-Whitewater on Jan. 26. Glumac-Berberich leads the WIAC in the one-meter diving event with a top score of 494.00, currently ranking him 4th in the country. 

Lau won the 3,000-meter run at the Warren Bowlus Multi & Open hosted by UW-Stout on Jan. 27. He posted a time of 8:23.17 that ranks him third in the NCAA Division III and first in the WIAC.

Glidden won the pentathlon, scoring 3,604 points, at the Warren Bowlus Multi & Open on Jan 27. She is currently first in NCAA Division III and the WIAC. Glidden is also tied for 14th in NCAA Division III with her high jump mark (5-4 1/4) (1.63m) in the pentathlon.

The women's basketball team hosts UW-Stout tomorrow Jan. 31, at 6:00pm with the UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team to follow at 8:00pm. The swimming and diving teams will compete at the WIAC Championship Feb. 15-17. The men's and women's indoor track team travel to UW-Stevens Point on Feb. 3 for the UW-SP Invite.
