Graaskamp and Jansen Named WIAC Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire men's hockey forward Mac Jansen (White Bear Lake, Minn.) and Anna Graaskamp (Eau Claire, Wis. /Memorial) of the women's basketball team have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, it was announced today by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Jansen scored all four of the Blugolds’ goals in a 4-1 win over Lawrence University (Wis.) on Nov. 18. He was credited with 10 shots in the game. Jansen scored his first goal of the contest just three minutes into play and would add his second with 9:52 left in the period as he weaved past multiple defenders and placed a wrist shot over the blocker of the goalie. Jansen got a breakaway chance in the second period and would complete the hat trick with a nifty move to beat the goalie. He would add his final goal of the night on the power play with four minutes left to go in the middle frame. Jansen leads the Blugolds with six goals on the season.

Graaskamp averaged 19.0 points on 16-of-21 shooting (76.2 percent) and 6.5 rebounds in two games at the UW-Eau Claire Tip-Off Tournament. She had a career-high 26 points (10-of-13 shooting from the field) and a game-best 11 rebounds in a 71-55 win over UW-Superior on Nov. 17. Graaskamp followed up her career high by scoring 12 points in just 12 minutes of play, while adding two rebounds and three blocked shots in a 100-65 victory over University of Dubuque (Iowa) on Nov. 18.

The men's hockey team will host Finlandia on Saturday Nov. 25th at 7pm and Sunday Nov. 26th at 4pm. The women's basketball team travels to De Pere, Wis. tonight to face St. Norbert and will host two games at home this weekend. The Blugolds will take on Minnesota Morris on Saturday Nov. 25th at 3:00pm with the Blugold men to follow in a double header at Zorn Arena. On Sunday Nov. 26th the women will face St. Mary's (Minn.) tip off also set for 3:00pm.
