Moore and Reineck Earn WIAC Athlete of the Week Honors

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire men's hockey forward Patrick Moore (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and Jessie Reineck (Greenville, Wis./Fox Valley Lutheran)  of the women's track and field team have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, it was announced today by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations Matt Stanek.

Moore posted a pair of multi-point games helping the Blugolds to a 2-1 record during the week. Against St. Olaf College (Minn.) on Jan. 24, he assisted the goal to put the Blugolds up 3-1 and added an insurance goal late in the third period to make it a 4-1 final. Moore took six shots in a 2-1 loss to UW-Stout on Jan. 26. He had a hat trick and an assist in a 7-1 win over UW-Superior on Jan. 28. Moore scored the Blugolds’ second and third goals on the night, and finished his hat trick at the 16:03 mark in the third period. Moore is the leading point scorer in the WIAC.

Reineck won the 400-meter dash at the Warren Bowlus Open in Menomonie on Jan. 28. She claimed the event in a nation-leading time of 57.39. The senior also is ranked fourth in 200 meter dash, after running 25.46 last week.

The men's hockey team travels to UW-Superior on Feb. 10, and the women's track and field team competes at the UW-Stevens Point Invite on Feb. 4.
