MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire women’s cross country runner Callie Fischer was named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week as announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations, Matt Stanek.
Fischer (Oneida, Wis. / Ashwaubenon) was the top NCAA Division III finisher, placing ninth of 210 competitors and helped her team to a third-place finish out of 14 teams at the UW Eau Claire Blugold Invitational on Sept. 30. She covered the 6K course in 23:09 improving upon her 33rd place-finish (23:30) from one year ago.
Fischer and the Blugold women will take the next week off from competition and continue to train for the UW-Oshkosh Invitational at Lake Breeze Golf Course on Saturday, October 15.
