Schaller and Women's 4X400 Relay Named WIAC Athletes of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - UW-Eau Claire women's softball player Evie Schaller and women's out-door 4X400 meter relay team was named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stanek announced today

Evie Schaller hit .636 (7-11) with three home runs, and nine RBI as UW-Eau Claire compiled at 4-0 record during the week. She hit safely in all four games and had a 1.455 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage. Schaller went 3-for-5 with two home runs and 4 RBI during UW-Eau Claire’s doubleheader sweep of UW-Stout on April 28. She was 1-of-3 with an RBI in the Blugolds’ 7-0 victory in the first game of their sweep over UW-Platteville on April 29. In the Blugolds’ 10-0 five-inning triumph in the second game, Schaller was 3-for-3 with a grand slam and 4 RBI. The softball team has won their last 8 games and will face UW-Stout in the first round of the WIAC tournament on Friday May 5th at 10:00am. 

The relay team of; Jess Rupnow (Sussex, Wis./ Sussex Hamilton), Jessie Reineck (Greenville, Wis./ Fox Valley Lutheran), Sarah Glidden (Greenville,Wis. /Hortonville), and Ashleigh Buergi (Green Bay, Wis./Bay Port) finished in third place at the Drake Relays on April 28. Their time of 3:46.25 is second on the NCAA Division III Honor Roll and first in the WIAC. The relay team will compete again this weekend at the WIAC Conference Meet hosted by UW-Platteville.
