MADISON, WIS. (Blugolds.com)- Junior pitcher, Lauren Blasczyk (Appleton, Wis./East), of the Blugold Softball team was named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week, as announced by WIAC Assistant Commissioner for Media Relations Matt Stank earlier today.
The Blugolds went 3-0 during the week, sweeping UW-Stout and UW-Oshkosh to secure the WIAC title. Blasczyk gave up only four earned runs in 19 innings, while striking out 14 with an ERA of 1.47. In the second game of a doubleheader against the Blue Devils on April 27, she scattered seven hits, allowed two earned runs and struck out two batters as UW-Eau Claire emerged with a 5-4 win. In the first game against the Titans on April 30, she struck out seven batters, while allowing three hits and one earned run in a 2-1 victory.
