Lichtfuss WIAC Athlete of the Week

MADISON, Wis. (Blugolds.com) - The University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire women’s basketball player Teenie Lichtfuss was named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athlete of the Week  as announced by Assistant Commissioner of Media Relations, Matt Stanek.

Lichtfuss led the Blugolds to a pair of wins against No. 24 -ranked DePauw University (Ind.) and Franklin College (Ind.) at the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Classic in Greencastle, Ind. She went over 1,000 points for her career in the third quarter in a 55-50 victory over DePauw. Lichtfuss had a team-high 13 points, shooting 5-of-11 from the floor (45 percent) and hit two critical free throws down the stretch. The senior followed up her milestone night with a season-high 30-point effort in a 57-48 triumph over Franklin. Lichtfuss was 11-of-17 from the floor (65 percent), including 4-of-7 from behind the three-point arc, and was perfect from the free-throw line. The senior also chipped in with eight rebounds, two blocked shots and two steals. In the two contests, Lichtfuss averaged 21.5 points per game, shot 57 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from behind the three-point arc, and was 100 percent from the free-throw line. Her performance earned her a spot on the Amy Hasbrook Memorial Classic All-Tournament Team.

The Blugolds are back in action January 6 as they open conference play traveling to UW-Stevens Point.
